UPS Announces Fee Adjustments

Changes include updated fees for Zone 7+ shipments, large package surcharges, and new rules for remote area fees under its Ground Saver service. Additional charges for shipping corrections and oversized items will also apply. These updates aim to support network expansion and service improvements.

DSV Launches New Air Charter Service

May 12 – DSV has introduced "Shanghai Star," a new air cargo charter service connecting Chicago (US) and Shanghai (China) with multiple weekly flights starting May 13, 2025. This marks DSV’s first regular cargo charter to Shanghai, operated exclusively under DSV’s control to minimize handling points. The move strengthens its air network for time-sensitive shipments.

FedEx Shifts Focus to Freight Business

May 12 – FedEx is reallocating a large cargo plane from its overnight parcel network to daytime freight operations targeting deferred shipments. The $80 billion deferred air cargo market is now a growth priority. This shift addresses declining parcel volumes, reduces excess capacity, cuts costs, and improves customer service.

Temu Opens Platform to Australian Sellers

May 9 – Temu now allows Australian businesses to sell directly to local consumers. This "local-to-local" model, already implemented in the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, and South Korea, combines fast local delivery with Temu’s low prices. Partnerships with fulfillment providers in Sydney and Melbourne have cut delivery times to 4-6 days, matching Amazon’s speed without requiring subscriptions.

TikTok Shop Launches in Brazil

May 12 – TikTok Shop has officially launched in Brazil, entering Latin America’s largest e-commerce market. The feature lets users discover and buy products directly in the app. According to Euromonitor, 25% of Brazilians made social media purchases in the past six months. By 2029, social commerce is projected to make up 11.7% of Brazil’s online retail sales (1.7 trillion Brazilian Reais).

May 12 – Mexico’s Awesome Cargo and US-based ARC Global Logistics have opened a new air freight route linking Tijuana (Mexico) to Zhengzhou (China) in under 15 hours.

Amazon Releases AI Tool for Sellers

May 12 – Amazon has launched "Enhance My Listing," a generative AI tool to simplify product page creation. Built on Amazon’s Bedrock AI platform, it auto-generates optimized titles, descriptions, and attributes, saving sellers time on research and editing.

DP World Opens First Singapore Warehouse

May 12 – DP World has opened its first Singapore facility: a 13,000-square-meter bonded warehouse at Mapletree Benoi Logistics Hub. This follows similar facilities in Incheon (South Korea) and Hong Kong. With ports and freight services, DP World now manages over 800,000 square meters of warehouse space in Asia-Pacific.
